How do I export voice notes to markdown?
There are three routes, and they differ in effort. For one note, copy its content from the note menu and paste it into any markdown editor. For all notes in one file, a signed-in request to the markdown export endpoint downloads a single .md file, though we did not find a button for it in the app. For a folder of separate files with frontmatter, use the Obsidian beta plugin, which writes each note as its own markdown file.

One note: copy it
Open the note and use Copy content in the note menu. It copies the polished text when the note has one, and the original transcript otherwise. The app displays polished text as markdown, so headings and lists generally come through when you paste into a markdown editor. This is the quickest option for a single note, and it copies text only, not the audio or the note's tags and dates.
Every note in one file
While signed in, opening /api/notes/export?format=markdown downloads a file named sentio-export with the date, ending in .md. It starts with an export date and a note count, then gives each note a heading, category, tags and created date. When a polished version exists, it appears under a Polished Version heading followed by the Original Transcript; otherwise you get the transcript alone. Adding includeChat=true to the address also appends your chat history. The same address accepts format=json and format=csv. Settings has an Export My Data button, but that one downloads JSON; we found no button for the markdown version, so it is a feature for people comfortable typing an address.
A folder of files, one per note
If you want separate files, the Obsidian route produces them. Each note becomes a markdown file named with the date and a short slug of the title, placed in a Sentio folder by default. The top of each file is YAML frontmatter with the note id, title, created and updated dates, tags and category, followed by the title as a heading and, when a polished version exists, Rewritten and Transcript sections. The plugin is a one-way beta, explained in the answer on what one-way sync means. A zip download endpoint for the same format also exists, capped at 2000 notes, and like the markdown export we found no button for it in the settings page.
What to check after exporting
Exports contain text and metadata, not audio, so keep the original recordings if you may need them. Misheard names and numbers in a transcript are exported exactly as they are, which is why the answer on transcription accuracy suggests fixing them in the note first. Finally, a markdown file is only the start of a workflow: Sentio does not have a Notion integration, so how you bring the file into other tools depends on what those tools accept.
Common questions
Is there an Export to Markdown button?
We did not find one. The Export My Data button in settings produces JSON. Markdown is available through the export address, the copy option on each note, and the Obsidian route.
Does the export include my audio?
No. The markdown and Obsidian files contain note text and metadata. Keep your recordings separately if you need them.
Does the export include the original transcript or the polished version?
Both, when a polished version exists: the polished text first, then the original transcript. If there is no polished version you get the transcript.
Can I export to Notion?
Not through a built-in integration. Notion is not currently a self-serve Sentio integration, so you would export a file or use a webhook and bring the content over yourself.
