How do I turn a voice memo into tasks?
Record the memo, get a transcript, then pull out only the sentences that commit you to something. You can do that by hand in a few minutes, or let Sentio transcribe the recording and list the action items for you to edit and turn into reminders. Either way, review the result against what you actually said before you trust it.

The manual method that always works
Transcribe the memo, then read it once looking for verbs of commitment: "I need to," "remind me to," "follow up on," "by Friday." Copy each one into your task manager as its own line, rewritten so it starts with a verb and names the thing and the person involved. It takes a few minutes for a short memo and a lot longer for a long one, which is why most people never go back to their recordings.
Talk in a way that makes tasks easy to find
You do not need to dictate in a rigid format, but a few habits help any tool, human or software. Say the task as a full sentence with its object, such as "email Priya the revised budget." Say the deadline in the same breath instead of three sentences later. When a thought could be read either way, say "that is a task" or "that is just context." Short pauses between topics also make transcripts easier to scan.
What Sentio does with the memo
In Sentio you record in the web app, and it produces a transcript, a summary and a separate list of action items drawn from the commitments in the note. A single memo covering unrelated errands produces separate items rather than one blob. The items are editable, can be checked off, and can become reminders with a due date and notification. If the memo contains no tasks, the list is empty.
Check the output before you rely on it
Speech recognition and task detection can both be wrong, especially with names, numbers and dates. Skim the action items beside the transcript, fix wording, and confirm every date you care about. Treat the extracted list as a first draft that saved you the typing, not as a record of what you agreed to.
Common questions
Can I turn an old voice memo into tasks?
You can transcribe any recording and extract tasks by hand. In Sentio, extraction runs on notes recorded in the app; importing recordings made elsewhere is not something we have documented, so check in the product before planning around it.
Will Sentio invent tasks I did not say?
It is built to list only commitments present in what you said. If a note has no tasks you get a transcript and summary with no action items. Review the list anyway, since detection can miss or misread phrasing.
How long should a memo be for good results?
Length matters less than clarity. A two minute memo with clearly spoken tasks and deadlines is easier to process than a long one with background noise and overlapping thoughts.
